Abstract

Research has been conducted on the influence of ethanolic extract of Kaik-Kaik Root Plant Leaves (Uncaria cordata (Lour.) Merr) on High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) levels in white rat serum (Rattus norvegicus) males. The study used 15 rats were divided into 5 groups, each group has 3 mices consisting of negative groups, positive groups, and the dosage group of doses 100 mg/kgBB, dose 200 mg/kgBB and dose 400 mg/kgBB. Negative group induced with high-fat feed and suspension Na.CM, the positive group induced with high-fat feed and 0,9 mg/kgBB suspension of atorvastatin, meanwhile, treatment group induced with high-fat feed and suspensions of the ethanolic extract of Kaik-Kaik Root Plant Leaves. The parameter observed is HDL levels in the male white rats serum which is a high fat feed induced egg yolk 10 mg/kgBB. The measurement method used is Homogeneous Assay using reagent and Photometer (Mindray® BA-88A) at 578 nm wavelength. The obtained result were analyzed usin two-way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) followed by the Post Hoc Tukey test. The result showed that ethanolic extract of Kaik-Kaik Root Plant Leaves dose 200, and 400 mg/kgBB may increase HDL levels in the white rat serum (Rattus norvegicus) males indicated by a significant difference (p0.05) with negative control.
